Juggling several paintings at a time
Starting several paintings at a time is a method that works for me. It prevents me from being bored or frustrated with a single piece. Having multiple works in progress lets me explore different ideas and techniques. It allows me to diversify my creative processes. I tend to have many ideas swimming around my head that I have to get out. I also see opportunities to explore and try something new.
I also like to paint with oils, acrylics, and watercolors. Starting new paintings allows me the opportunity to play with the mediums I like.
It's also good for me to take breaks and step away from a challenging painting. It provides a fresh perspective when I come back to it. I do however get a bit overwhelmed. When I do I can lose focus and I don’t want to burn out. So I am mindful to finish paintings and stay productive. This is a common approach among artists.
There are artists that don’t believe in having more than one painting going at a time. They believe that focusing on one painting allows for a deeper focus and concentration leading to a more refined final piece. So it is essential to find what works best for you and your artistic process.
Do you juggle more than one painting at a time, or do you prefer one painting at a time?
We would like to know how you navigate your processes!
